ALBUM REVIEW CREW EPISODE 34: :AUTOMATIC FOR THE PEOPLE

On the 34 Episode of the Album Review Crew of Shout It Out Loudcast, Tom, Zeus & Sonny review the highly acclaimed eighth studio album by R.E.M., "Automatic For The People." The album went to Number 2 on the Billboard charts, went 4 X platinum and sold over 18 Million copies worldwide. R.E.M. known for college music had just exploded with their last album "Out Of Time" with the help of the single, "Losing My Religion." They decided to make this new album to sound like nothing else contemporary and filled with non-R.E.M.-type songs. The result was this masterpiece filled with songs about, loss, death, mortality, transition and more. The album was a group effort with guitarist Peter Buck, bassist Mike Mills and drummer Bill Berry using all sorts of instruments and sounds to make the music while songwriter and vocalist extraordinaire, Michael Stipe provided the moving vocals and lyrics to this essential album of the 1990's. Considered by many as perhaps R.E.M.'s best album, the album contains many of R.E.M.'s best songs, like Everybody Hurts, Man On The Moon, Nightswimming and Find The River and more. The album featured six singles and videos, which were played on MTV on heavy rotation. As usual the boys breakdown and dissect the tracks and rank the songs. They then rank the album and the album cover against the previous 32 albums reviewed on the Album Review Crew. This was Zeus' pick and this album led to the rankings changing a lot by all three ARC members. We are talking 90's Alternative Music so if you believe...
